I've been photographing Hayleigh since she was a newborn, and what a joy it's been to watch her come into her own little personality. That also means watching her sense of independence and free will blossom, which essentially results in a 2-year-old session with very few posed photos. But I think those are better most of the time, and I love that as a non-studio photographer, I'm not forcing kids to hate having their picture taken. We may have gotten more shots where a tongue is sticking out or some serious expressions or on-the-go shots, but I know that personally I'd rather have photos of my own daughter in her natural behavior than posed photos any day. Those little mannerisms and expressions are so fleeting that I love the idea of capturing them, so that in a few short months (or years) I'll look back and say "Oh yeah, I remember when she used to do that!" I absolutely love how Hayleigh decided that instead of posed shots we were going to have a kind of mommy-and-me session. It doesn't get much sweeter than that. ♥
