A loyal sister is worth a thousand friends. Marian Eigerman  57.366 You never miss an opportunity to check on your little sister. If you are missing, I will often find you standing next to the baby swing, just staring at her.  58.366 Mommy took a few posed photos of you to put on the mantel, but not before you played in the curtains. Your joy in the simple things around you amazes me.  59.366 We went to your little sister's 48 hour checkup at the pediatrician, and you wore your doctor's coat and abominable snowman hat and made sure baby's heart was "thump thump"-ing alright. You thought it was great to not be the patient this time. The baby wasn't fond of the pretend doctor or the real one.   60.366 Whenever you come across the baby, who you call "baby" or simply "sister", you take the opportunity to hold her hand.  61.366 There's a commercial on TV right now with a little girl who dresses up in an adorable tiger costume, and her dad takes her to the zoo to see a real tiger, and it always reminds me of you and your daddy. Daniel Tiger has created a great love of tigers for you, so when Daddy bought you these plates, you were over the moon.  62.366 Even though your baby sister is too young to play house with you, it doesn't stop you from trying. Here you are trying to feed her some pretend food. "Nom nom nom," you said. It didn't seem to be her cup of tea.  63.366 "Mommy, I potty!!" you yell whenever you sit on the toilet. Even though you're obsessed with potties, and unraveling outrageous amounts of toilet paper and sprinting from the bathroom with the plunger, I fear you actually have very little interest in the potty endeavor.

You are such a loving big sister.  51.366 I don't think a photo could sum you up any better. You love your sleep, and Mommy loves that too.  52.366 From our first days after your birth. Naptime for you and Daddy.  53.366 You always want to climb into the baby's crib, and since you both had your sister outfits on, I obliged this one time. You two look like best friends to me!  54.366 Daddy washed his hands before cooking us breakfast, and he shook the water off of them, playfully getting you a little wet. You two are so close and playful now with all of the busyness in the house. It makes me a little sad that you two have this special bond now, but at the same time, it fills my heart with love.  55.366 The first home sponge bath. You were not a fan.  56.366 Oh, how your Daddy loves you so. He's a strong guy with broad shoulders, but when it comes to his little girls, he melts. We had planned to go to the Botanical Conservatory, but it was closed, so we went to the mall where we perused books at Barnes & Noble, rode the carousel twice (you chose an elephant and a horse), ate Thai noodles at the food court, and your favorite part where you just ran joyously through the hallway, completely unaware that the next day you would be a big sister.  44.365 "Way up high in the apple tree. Two little apples smiling at me." Our favorite part is when the apples smile and we put our hands over our eyes like goggles and put our heads together so that our "goggles" touch. Then we giggle and giggle. My mommy taught me that little rhyme and now I tell it to you. And someday, you may just giggle over apple goggles with your daughter too.  45.365 We went to the hospital at 5:30am, and by 7:55am, we welcomed our second daughter into this world. Mommy and Daddy got to see you right away via a clear drape. They took you briefly to clean you up, and I could hear you screaming and screaming, a healthy set of lungs. But the moment they laid you on me, you stopped crying and snuggled up to me, not making a sound. It was amazing. You are amazing.  46.366 You are a very chill baby. Eat. Sleep. Repeat. Your nurses would walk in and say "Is this the best eater in the maternity ward that I've been hearing about?" You've got a reputation.  47.365 We wanted you to be the very first to meet your baby sister, so after your nap, Daddy drove home and picked you up. We had prepped you about what was going to happen, but we didn't really think you'd understand. When Daddy carried you into the hospital room and showed you your little sister, you knew exactly who she was and said "Sister!" I was so happy that you were excited about her, and my Mommy heart filled with love.  48.366 You already love your little sister, and you often poke at her and say "Sister" or "Baby." You are such a big helper already, and you often check in on her.  49.365 This is the swing you slept in for far too long because of your aspirating problems. You were always fascinated by the lights and the dancing lambs, even as a newborn. When you saw it again, I found you on all fours in the swing, and you were furious that I made you get out. Whenever your sister is in it, you point at the lambs and yell "Sheep! Sheep! Baaaaa!!" |
