Another Share Six Blog Circle to share this month, and I was honored to choose the theme. Thinking of my favorite images, I am truly drawn to the ones where it's a seemingly quiet moment between two or a few people. My favorite moments with my husband, our daughters or even our dog Mademoiselle Foo Foo made me think of one word: {connection}. During those brief moments, we understand each other, and we can talk or not talk or just hug or hold hands, and you can feel totally in sync and comfortable. My daughters share a very special connection through their sisterly bond, and thank heavens they love to be together. The older one is always hugging or holding hands with the baby (who is now wanting to earn her independence and often pushes Big Sis away, but sometimes gives in to the cuddles and baby talk). But connection isn't just a word that can be used with family members. There is a connection with other human beings, even people we don't know, with nature, with animals, with hobbies and characters in books, between a photographer and client. Connections can be made with an idea, an understanding, linking once concept to another. Connections can symbolize the link between cause and effect. I find that when there is a strong connection in an image, it tugs the heart a little more and gives a glimpse into a secret moment. I have joined a group of photographers, Share Six, who will be blogging 6 images each month. Each month is a different theme. I am so excited to have been invited to join the Share Six blogging team! What an honor to work with these awesome ladies in creating a supportive photography community. Each month we share 6 images based on the theme on the 6th of the month in a blog circle. Click the link at the end to follow to the next blog in the circle. March's theme is {RESTORE}. "The Doc is in and she'll fix you up. If you're a toy, then you're in luck. It's OK; don't be afraid, the Doc really knows her stuff. Do you know it's good for you? The doc is gonna help you feel better. Oh it's the place to go when you feel a little under the weather. Let Doc McStuffins do her thing to get you right back in the swing." -Doc McStuffins Theme Song My take on this month's theme focuses on the way my daughter {RESTORES} her stuffies. She is obsessed with Doc McStuffins, even though she's never seen a full episode and she's seen little clips on YouTube kids. Her great grandma made her this awesome doctor's jacket for Christmas last year, so she set up a waiting room, and proceeded to diagnose each "patient" and cure each one with kisses. Then she tucked them all in bed to rest. It was one of the sweetest things I've ever seen, and her imagination just blows me away. As we grow older, I think we forget how to pretend, so it's amazing to watch her little mind work, creating completely different and fantastic worlds for herself. I read an article recently that said that we make our children too busy with activities and that we should create boredom for them because this is when their imagination really gets to work. I find this to be so true...it is when I am in the middle of something with the baby and my oldest must entertain herself that I find her engrossed in incredible storylines, complete with multiple voices and conversations for her dolls and stuffies. Not only does she {RESTORE} her stuffies, but she {RESTORES} my memories of playing pretend as a child and discovering how to imagine great things now.
