Last week, my mother in law invited us to go apple picking at the local orchard. We have our own apple trees, but it's more fun to go somewhere to pick apples, which I've never done before, and they have the most amazing, giant Honeycrisp apples in the world. I am convinced there is no better apple. So we went and had a picnic with my mother in law and nephews and then onward to pick apples. I thought Little One would love it because she loves picking apples off the tree at home, but her real desire was to just run through the orchard, so much that by the end of it all, we had picked only two apples. Nevertheless, it was still a fun time and cute to watch.

 257.365 Getting ready to change into clothes in the morning. Here you are thinking and pondering.  259.365 Standing quietly at the dining room table and eating your lunch. ♥  258.365 You are fitting into your almost 2-year-old role quite well, and every day brings with it many bouts of crying and screaming. I'm not sure either of us knew in this situation why you were crying, but there's that one little shiny teardrop as proof.  260.365 Sitting on the steps with Mr. Goat and Bob, giving them kisses and making them suck your paci.  261.365 You are big into pretend with your babies and stuffed animals, feeding them, giving them milk, making them hop, and here, making Mr. Goat suck your paci.  262.365 In the mornings when you wake, we head out to the barn in our jammies to feed the goats and cats. You get a little impatient sometimes.  263.365 You've learned how to use toy whistles, and Daddy taught you how to whistle with a straw, one of your favorite toys of all. I'm loving this month of {window light}, although I thought we'd have some beautiful window light while on vacation in the Smoky Mountains, and we basically had....none. No light whatsoever. In fact, during the day it was pitch black in the cabin. Peaceful, yes. Great for indoor photos, not so much. Nevertheless, this month has been tremendously easier and more fulfilling than last month.  250.365 I set you on the counter, and apparently you were thirsty because you put the filtered water faucet in your mouth.  251.365 "Dance. Dance" you say. Looks like it's time for a dance party in the kitchen.  252.365 The night you put your books away in the basket and knelt beside your bed for nighttime prayers by yourself, I thought my heart would burst. These were little things we've been working on, but it was one of my all-time proudest Mommy moments. When I feel like I'm doing everything wrong sometimes, that one moment gave me reassurance.  253.365 The suitcases for our vacation were an exciting and fun toy for you. Here you are cleaning Bob's face with a q-tip.  254.365 Your favorite part of vacation is always the bed. You think it's hilarious.  255.365 We went to the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, and unless you were strapped into your stroller, you were screaming or crying. Except for this split second when you watched the sharks swim past.  256.365 Lunch time is generally a happy time. Just look at that smile, you sweet little Cubbie. |
